Día de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead.
The Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos in Spanish) is a holiday celebrated mainly in Mexico and by people of Mexican heritage (and others) living in the United States and Canada. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and relatives who have died.Today I am remembering some of the people who died in my family, not of old age.
Isaac 1980 (28)
Ma 1981 (57)
Uncle Sam 1982 (54)
Dad 1983 (59)
Auntie Lummie 1984 (53)
Ricky 1980's (40+)
Jeannette 1980's (40+)
But mostly my beloved Auntie Essie who died on 10 October 1964 at the age of 50 (when I was 16) and who I miss to this day. May you all R.I.P.

These two were done by Mim and Orangefrute for me and I treasure them both.

Your portrait of your Aunt Essie is absolutely wonderful!
I have enjoyed your blog and even made my own clock from your source :)
Thanks!
I very much like your day of the dead skull. To see the young ages of your loved ones when they died really brings home the many losses you have had. The portraits of Aunt Essie are wonderful. And you here to remember all. i have always liked the idea of the day of the dead. A time to remembe and honor.

First I need to say I love your banner again. The colors and the art work there grab me each time I check in here.
Your skeleton is great too.
Your list of lost loved ones touched my heart. I'm glad you are breaking the pattern and living long(er). I hear your sadness for the loss of your sweet Aunt Essie. I love the art others made for you of her. Such a tribute.
Hugs from me.

FANTASTIC!! May we always carry the heart of those who have departed...
That is so wonderful you have the portrait and the artistic renderings of them as well. Happy Dia to you.
The skull art is great. I don't think I've ever seen one done with that treatment. The portrait of your Aunt Essie is really good too. Sorry that you lost her so soon.
